BIO ANNATAR
Annatar: ‘Lord of Gifts’, is the name Sauron used when he appeared to the Eldar in a fair form during the second Era in Middle-Earth. (Silmarillion by J.R.R.Tolkien)
The music of Annatar can be described as Melodic Dark Metal, somewhere between Gothic Metal, Doom Metal and Power Metal. Bands like Children of Bodom, Nightwish and Iron Maiden are sources of inspiration.
The story of Annatar begins in 1999 when Johan van Heusden, Wietse Braam and Alex van den Heuvel meet in Delft and agree to form a band. They group up with Bram Quettier and Mischa van der Hout. Later on Elisabeth Cordia is added and Annatar is really born. In 2001 Annatar records their first demo "Remember" at the Threnody studio's with Martijn Spierenburg of Within Temptation. Elisabeth joins this year in the national television show "The Soundmixshow" and gets lots of interesting offers. Soon after Annatar breaks with Elisabeth Cordia in 2001. Annatar is in the middle of signing with Transmission Records but have to brake this off.After a long search Annatar finds the new vocalist Madicken de Vries and things go quite well. September 2006 Annatar released their last cd: Quest for Reality.The cd contains seven songs among others: titletrack Quest for Reality, Our Embrace and Perception.
Annatar plays several sold out shows with After Forever, Epica, Imperia and Autumn. Furthermore Annatar played on festivals like Rotorock (Berkel & Rodenrijs), Enclave Fantasty (Baarle-Hertog/ Baarle-Nassau), Occultfest (Hoogeveen) and Westerpop: Peter Tetteroo Bokaal (Delft) and Brainwash 4u&u (Hoofddorp). This year Annatar joined the Vlietpop Contest and won the place to play on the Vlietpop festival for 3000+ people.Recently times are really changing in Annatar. After long consideration Annatar had to face the retiring of two members, Mischa van der Hout and Bram Quettier. Mischa and Bram both play in other bands, and through the years they lost their interest in the music Annatar makes. They both leave the band with good feelings. Their places will be replaced by Bart Limburg (ex-Vanadis) and Daniel Zonneveld (ex-Vanadis.)Sadly after very long consideration, Annatar also has to decide to fire Madicken de Vries as lead vocals. Annatar is now in search of a new lead singer, while in the time being Annatar gets help from former lead singer Elisabeth Cordia. So Annatar still continues the upcoming shows in sort of an reunion tour!
